Stay connected with the BUE at Brown

Coming in Spring 2020:

Hidden Curriculum Lunches

Informal brown bag lunches with Dean Smith in the spring semester. The hidden curriculum refers to the unwritten, unofficial and often unintended lessons college has to offer. Hidden Curriculum lunches are small, friendly and informal. You bring your lunch and we will provide the drinks. There are 8 spots available for each lunch so RSVP early. We meet and eat in the BUE conference room, located in Arnold Lab suite 124 (91 Waterman St).

All Hidden Curriculum events will be held from 12-1pm on the following dates:

Wednesday February 12th - Imposter Phenomenon:
"Even though I had sold 70 million albums, there I was feeling like 'I'm no good at this.' -Jennifer Lopez. J.Lo has it. We all have it at one point. Let's talk about the impostor phenomenon, how and when it occurs, how to accept it for what it is, learn from it, and move on.

Wednesday March 11th - Fostering Inclusion in the Undergraduate Biology Program:
How can the program in Biology do more to foster inclusion – in classrooms, labs, and in the co-curriculum? This is an informal opportunity for students in the program to learn from our student climate survey results, share experiences and offer suggestions.

Wednesday April 8th - Health & Wellness Impacts on Academic Success:
What is the number one predictor of college GPA and graduation? Sleep! Let's talk informally about the many ways that students maximize health and wellness so they can do their best work in college. We'll touch on managing stress, sleep hygiene, mental health, and whatever else is on our minds.

RSVP for any of these dates by contacting Scott Rathbun
