Vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN), grade III, warty type

Warty (bowenoid) VIN III has a condylomatous appearance (first image). There is minimal maturation (second image), which qulifies it as a VIN III lesion.  Warty VIN III tends to occur in younger women, and often contains HPV type 16. Other types of VIN III include basaloid (undifferentiated) VIN and rare simplex or differentiated VIN. At the present time there is no clinical need to subtype VIN III. Treatment is usually local excision or laser vaporization. Recurrence is common.
