Pneumonia (incomplete resolution)

In some pneumonia cases, resolution is incomplete and fibrosis ensues. In this case, one sees interstitial fibrosis and fibrotic tissue partially filling alveolar spaces. An old term for this stage is carnification (the formation of flesh).
