Normal bronchiole
As the bronchus branches and proceeds peripherally, cartilage becomes scanty. In this section of a bronchiole cartilage is absent. Note the circularly oriented strands of smooth muscle and the absence of submucosal glands. The epithelium is ciliated and columnar.
