The Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown University encompasses the Program in Biology and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Guided by the University's strategic plan, Building on Distinction, the Division is making strategic investments in research and education. Most notably, the Office of the Dean established the Brown Institute for Translational Science in 2015 to create an infrastructure for translational science at Brown. We have successfully built integrated teams of basic science researchers, master clinicians, physician-scientists, and students at all levels of training in areas that affect millions of people around the world including respiratory disease, autism, the biology of aging, and bioinformatics. We have also invested in an MD/PhD training program, recruited researchers and master clinicians, and created innovative educational programs to train the next generation of physicians and scientists.
