The Teaching and Advising Awards are hosted by the Academics and Administrative Affairs (AAA) committee of the Undergraduate Council of Students. Every year, the committee solicits nominations from the undergraduate student body via an all campus email for professors and teaching assistants who've demonstrated an outstanding commitment to student advising and mentorship. The committee then went through the 100+ submissions and selected seven individuals (six professors and a TA) who were not only nominated multiple times, but also had literal essays written about their positive influences on students' lives. To honor the nominees, recipients and all undergrad students were invited to a reception in the Faculty Club on Thursday, March 6, 2014.
