The main office of the Classics Department is located in Macfarlane House, 48 College Street, just down the hill from the Van Wickle Gates and the Rockefeller Library.
Macfarlane House hosts the offices of many of our departmental faculty, the Couch Library, graduate student lounge and work spaces, and a seminar room.
Wilbour Hall is located at 2 Prospect Street and hosts the offices of some members of the departmental faculty, emeritus faculty, visiting faculty, and visiting scholars. A Modern Greek and Sanskrit Library are currently being built there.
Caveat autocinetistes! ("Let the driver beware") Parking is at a premium around campus. Although those arriving after business hours should have little difficulty parking within a few blocks of Macfarlane House or Wilbour Hall, visitors are encouraged to allow enough time to find parking. The streets nearest to the Department of Classics offer on-street metered parking. Demand is high for these spaces. Meters accept quarters only and are limited to two hours. The streets off Prospect Street to the north of campus are usually the best bet for daytime parking.
There is a Visitor Parking Lot located on the upper level of the Power Street Parking Garage, at the corner of Power and Thayer Streets. View directions and rates.
For maps and driving directions, see Google Maps: Macfarlane House, Wilbour Hall. Campus maps, accessibility maps, parking maps, and a welcome map (which helpfully includes the orientation of one-way streets) are available from Brown's Department of Facilities Management.
