Classics Grads & Faculty Present at SCS/AIA 2020 Meeting in DC

Every winter, the Society for Classical Studies holds a joint meeting with the Archaeological Institute of America.  Students and scholars from all over attend this annual event to partake in the intellectual exchange by participating in presentations, panel discussions, performances, book sales, and even job searches.

Each year, members of the Brown Classics Department and Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology & the Ancient World attend the meetings and take part in the various activities.  The two departments also host a joint reception during the course of the conference, to which current and former department members are invited.

The next SCS/AIA meeting will be held January 2-5, 2020 in Washington, DC.  A number of Classics Department graduate students and faculty will be presenting at the meeting:

  • John Bodel
  • John Cherry
  • Benjamin Driver (PhD, Classics)
  • Gaia Gianni (PhD, Ancient History)
  • Johanna Hanink
  • Kelly Nguyen (PhD, Ancient History)
  • Pura Nieto Hernandez
  • Alvaro Pires (PhD, Classics)
