Announcing the 2022 Classics Language Prize Exams

The Department of Classics is pleased to announce four language prize exams in the month of March.  Financial prizes will be awarded for each exam!  Exam dates, times, and eligibility vary, so please read the details carefully.

Wednesday, March 16, 2022 – Lyon & Foster Prize Exams

Both examinations last for one hour.  This is a sight examination, so you may not use books or aids of any kind.

Lucius Lyon Prize in Latin

2:00 – 3:00 pm
Macfarlane House, 48 College Street, Room 101
Eligibility: Open to class of 2022 Brown University undergraduates.

 

Lafayette Sabine Foster Prize in Ancient Greek

3:00 – 4:00 pm
Macfarlane House, 48 College Street, Room 101
Eligibility: Open to all Brown University undergraduates.

 

Thursday, March 17, 2022 – Wayland Prize Exams

Both examinations last for one hour.  This is a sight examination, so you may not use books or aids of any kind.  There are three different exams (beginner, intermediate, and advanced), based on the students’ proficiency in ancient Greek or Latin.  You must choose the exam that appropriately evaluates your current level of ancient Greek or Latin aptitude.
