* Summer Opportunity: Global Health Experiential Fellowship is a summer research opportunity gives motivated, high-achieving students the chance to receive research mentorship from global mental health researchers at Yale University and to live and work for five weeks alongside Ugandan undergraduate and master’s level students to implement a research project in the rural village of Mpunde, Eastern Uganda. Fellows will also have the ability to continue their work after the summer by contributing to the manuscript write-up and publication process, receiving co-authorship upon publication. Research topics will consist of exploring ways to reduce stigma and improve mental health care delivery. * GAP Year: Bronxcare Health System (formerly Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center) is seeking a Departmental and Research Intern, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. This is a gap-year fellow opportunity for recent graduates (either just Graduated or 1-2 years out) in an active orthopedic department that services the poorest congressional district in the nation. You will spend time on musculoskeletal research projects, clinical shadowing, and office assistance. Former fellows were pre-meds who have since gone on to medical school at UCSF, the University of Washington, Downstate, and others. They pay a salary stipend of $30,000. This is an opportunity offered mainly to Brown students. They are looking for someone to start July 2024 and end May 2025. * Recent Grads and GAP Year: The Department of Pediatrics at Rhode Island/Hasbro Children's Hospital is hiring! We are seeking one full-time research assistant who can commit to at least 1 year of work (per diem in April, full time in July). Job responsibilities include:

 – Recruiting patients for ongoing clinical trials and observational studies

– Collection of clinical data from patients, research participants, and/or the EMR

– Managing research databases (e.g., REDCap)

– Assisting with IRB applications

– Overseeing administrative tasks on behalf of the PI

Their ongoing research projects span all major fields of pediatrics. The position will provide an excellent opportunity to interact with patients experiencing a range of medical conditions, as well as peers, medical students, residents, and attending physicians. *The National Student Leadership Conference’s Medicine and Health Care program held at The University of Miami is hiring Team Advisors and Assistant Team Advisors for for pre-college summer programs for high school students. *The UMass Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) Summer Undergraduate Research Program is a non-credit, ten-week, structured research experience from May 26-August 2, 2024. The program consists of "hands-on" laboratory research with an investigator serving as a mentor, role model and advisor. The Summer Undergraduate Research Program is funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the UMass Chan Provost’s Office. Summer Research Fellows receive a $6,000 stipend. Stipends are paid to participants in three payments over the ten-week program. Travel and housing are paid for and arranged by the program. Participants engage in networking sessions with UMass Chan leaders, faculty, and trainees. Participants prepare and present a professional research poster.  *Voss Undergraduate Research Fellowships is Accepting Applications via UFunds Jan 19 - Feb 19. Voss Fellowships are the premier training and funding opportunities for undergraduates interested in environmental research at Brown, offering awardees a large stipend, plus additional funds for related expenses. They are open to rising seniors in any concentration who intend to pursue a summer project that will become the framework for their honors thesis.  Please note that the research must address a challenge facing our environment, such as - the effects of pollution on childhood asthma, the migration of species due to rising temperatures, or tackling misinformation campaigns in regard to climate change (to name a few). *Massachusetts General Hospital’s Boston Shoulder Institute is hiring a Clinical Research Coordinator as a Full-time, one year appointment. This full-time position is best suited for recent college graduates interested in pursuing a career in medicine. The applicant should have a strong academic record; must be creative, self-driven, and reliable; and must be motivated to learn. A background in statistics is useful but not necessary. *Boston University School of Medicine’s SPIN (Summer Program In Neuroscience) is offering a number of scholarships for the upcoming summer program. SPIN is an annual 8 week program hosted  at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center. It is open to rising junior and senior undergrads interested in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science and medicine. *The Hastings Center Summer Bioethics Program for Underrepresented Undergraduates application process is now open. The application deadline is Friday, February 23, 2024, at 11:59 pm Eastern. The Summer Bioethics Program is a five-day live online program for undergraduate students from groups that are underrepresented in bioethics. These groups include and are not limited to communities of color, Indigenous communities, rural residents, low-income students, first-generation students, students with disabilities, and LGBT+ students. This program is part of The Hastings Center’s efforts to build a more inclusive bioethics community. Admission to this competitive program is by application. We will invite 22 applicants to take part in the 2024 program. Participating students must commit to the full five-day, participatory online program from Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7, 11 am to 5 pm Eastern. Some sessions include background readings.
