Petitions and Forms

Students may petition the Committee on Academic Standing for admission to special degree programs and for exceptions to certain academic rules. The files below contain information for the most commonly submitted petitions. Contact the appropriate dean for more information.

Course Overlap Petitions

During the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters, the College will waive the usual course overlap guidelines to allow undergraduates to be registered for predominantly asynchronous, online courses (for example, a course with largely recorded lectures) where both instructors support the student’s request for an exception. Students should note that courses with significant synchronous components such as live discussion sections will not be eligible for this exception.

Undergraduate petitions for spring 2021 courses may be submitted via ASK between January 13 - February 2. The Course Overlap Approval PDF Form will no longer be accepted.

Support from both instructors is required for Deans’ approval. Instructors will receive a system notification when students enter their name in ASK.  If an instructor has sent their approval to the student via email, the student can upload this documentation as part of their petition. Once the petition is approved, it will be routed to the Registrar's Office, and the student will be registered for both courses, provided the student's registration allows it (note that the maximum number of courses for which a student may be enrolled is five). Students should confirm their grade option before the deadline to change grade options
