Brown has established several study abroad initiatives that engage students in global research, collaboration, and academic focus beyond the traditional study abroad models. Here are a few of our newest initiatives.
Brown + 1
Students complete a graduate-level course while abroad during junior year. After graduating from Brown, they have the opportunity to return to the study abroad institution to complete a one-year masters program. Learn more.
Global Independent Study (GLISP)
The Brown Global Independent study is a structured approach to academic research while abroad. Students work with a Brown faculty member leading up to their time abroad to develop a research proposal, which they then complete for credit while abroad. Upon return to Brown, students are encouraged to use the GLISP as a catalyst for continued research, senior capstones, honors theses, enhanced faculty international collaboration and exchange, etc. Learn more.
