Early Identification Program in Medicine

The Early Identification Program (EIP) in Medicine for Tougaloo students started in 1976 as a route of admission to Brown Medical School. Outstanding students committed to a career in medicine are invited to apply for this program. Students spend a semester at Brown before entering into the Medical School.

The EIP program is a cooperative program between Brown's Medical School and Providence College, Rhode Island College, the University of Rhode Island, and Tougaloo College. It provides selected students with a place at Brown contingent upon continued academic progress and college graduation. Students identified by their premedical advisor in the sophomore year of college participate in professional development activities and enroll in medical school after receiving their bachelor's degree. Generally, up to two students may be admitted annually from each school.
