Kaitlin Sandmann is from Essex, CT. She is a member of the class of 2019 pursuing a double concentration in mathematics and English. She was a member of the Swearer Storytellers Fellowship in 2017.
Kaitlin's time with the Swearer Center has fostered her interest in education justice and in ethical journalism. She hopes to combine this interest with her love of writing and math in promoting STEM access for women, people of color, and others holding marginalized identities. Kaitlin began working at William D'Abate Elementary School through BEAM in the fall of her first year, and will be working with the same group of children for the fourth year in a row. Seeing their growth from first graders to fourth graders has been the most meaningful aspect of her time at Brown.
