Why I Serve: I serve because I believe our true legacy does not lie in our achievement or successes, regardless of how spectacular it may be. It is the amount of impact that we create in people’s lives that truly matters most. I serve because I want my work to leave a positive impact on as many people in my community as I can possibly reach. I serve because I want to manifest the Dalai Lama's words when he said: “The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater our sense of well-being becomes."
Why Brown University AmeriCorps VISTA Fellowship? I joined the Brown University AmeriCorps VISTA fellowship because It allows me to make sustainable change in my community. I believe Providence has a wealth of resources that can only be explored to the fullest when all community members unite their efforts. Through my work as a VISTA, I can help connect these efforts by creating systems for successful community partnerships within Providence and beyond. By doing so through Brown University I can gain access to all the knowledge necessary for this mission.
