Hawa Ture

Hawa Ture 2019-20

B.A. Sociology 2017, Bridgewater State University

Hawa was born in Liberia, and by the age of seven, she moved to the United States. The place she calls home in the U.S is Staten Island, New York. She is one of eight siblings, and the first and only to graduate from a University, making her a first-generation student within her family. In 2017, Hawa graduated from Bridgewater State University, where she majored in Sociology. After obtaining her degree, she went on to serve low-income and first-generation students through two AmeriCorps programs: City Year Boston and Massachusetts Promise Fellowship. Because of her love for serving youth, Hawa is once again in another Americorps program through Brown University as a College Adviser, where she will get the chance to fulfill her passion of helping low-income, first generational students getting into college. She is happy to serve Hope High School this upcoming year so that she can gain the experience needed to one day become a Guidance Counselor.
