She attended the University of Rhode Island where she received two degrees; a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies and a B.A. in English—she has also completed a minor in Leadership Studies. Jurissa graduated cum laude; she made honors and received special recognition from the Dean of Students at the university. While living on campus, Jurissa worked at the Writing Production Lab, where she helped college students with their papers, Adobe and Microsoft software, and final projects. Jurissa worked with Upward Bound at Rhode Island College, where she encouraged students to work hard and find a future in higher education. A year later, Jurissa worked with Talent Development at the University of Rhode Island where she guided incoming freshman throughout an intensive and academic summer success program. With her experience in working with young adults and her years attending URI, Jurissa is eager and motivated to work with her students at Shea High School to help them look into future opportunities for their journey after graduation.
