Hope High School

Kara is originally from Winchendon, Massachusetts and moved to Providence, RI when she attended Providence College on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship. In 2016, she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with a minor in Public and Community Service. Throughout her life Kara has been committed to community service and engagement. Her studies and extracurricular involvement during her undergraduate career have allowed her to work with various Providence area schools and organizations that include Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex, The International Charter School in Pawtucket, The Providence After School Alliance and more. Throughout her community involvement, Kara has found the most joy in working with young people while serving as a mentor. Kara was a community liaison with the Feinstein Institute for Public Service at Providence College where she mentored both young people in the providence community and undergraduate students. She has also co-facilitated multiple courses at Providence College and abroad in Cape Town South Africa around the topics of community organizing, social justice and international education. She strongly believes in the power of education and takes the role of college advising dear to her hear being a first generation student herself. Kara’s greatest passion in life is helping other people their own passion. She enjoys helping students find their voice in order to pave a pathway to achieving their own personal goals. She is looking forward to being persistent in creating more opportunities for higher education in her second year at Hope High School in Providence, RI.
