Central High School

Manuel was born and raised in Providence, RI by parents from the Dominican Republic. He graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in History from Emmanuel College in Boston,  and has been passionate about pursuing a career in education and Atlantic world history. At Emmanuel College, Manuel developed leadership skills as a student and as a professional. As a student he served as an Orientation Leader, Resident Assistant, and Admissions Ambassador and shortly after graduating he worked as an Admissions Representative for Emmanuel College. During his time as a member of the College Advising Corps Manuel wants to share his knowledge of the college admissions process with the students of Central High School. As a first-generation college graduate, Manuel knows that the social, educational, and economic disadvantages many students face within the higher education environment can cause a lack of transparency for families and students from underrepresented communities. He is happy to provide service to the community he grew up in and wants to use his experiences and knowledge to help guide future students heading into higher education to feel better represented.
