Annaka Paradis

Where is home to you? Russell, MA (zoom in several times over the western part of the state, and you will find it!)

Department: School of Public Health, Behavioral and Social Sciences

B.A. Psychology, Chemistry, and Community Engagement 2018, Smith College

Annaka is a first-year master’s student in Behavioral and Social Health Sciences at Brown University. Her research interests include opioid use disorders (particularly in rural communities), HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ health, and health disparities. Her work is centered around improving healthcare access for vulnerable and stigmatized populations, ideally through community-based participatory research. Annaka is thrilled to combine her personal and academic interests in community engagement to increase the Brown community’s awareness of community engagement opportunities and partnerships, as well as to assist in promoting humility and best practices when conducting service work.

"I would like to be remembered as someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability." ― Ruth Bader Ginsburg
