Ishani Mehta

Where is home to you? Mountain Lakes, NJ

Ishani is a mechanical engineering student at Brown University with a concentration in Contemplative Studies, scheduled to graduate in 2022. She is interested in sustainability and environmental justice. At the Swearer Center, she is involved with the Housing Assistance Collaborative, Partnership for Adult Learning, the Student Advisory Committee, and is one of two student members on the committee to select the new Swearer Center Executive Director. She is also a Swearer Center Peer Mentor and the Bonner Community Fellow for the Providence Student Union, where she works on making Providence schools better, more inclusive, safer places for students. Outside of the Swearer Center, Ishani dances on Badmaash and Abhinaya dance companies, advocates with Active Minds,  directs community outreach on the Society of Women Engineers, and is a member of the Engineering Student Advisory Board. She also is an intern for the Rhode Island Center for Justice and has long-term interests in public interest law.
