Kate Porter joined the Swearer Center in 2019 as the Assistant Director of Communications and Public Engagement. In this capacity, she provides focused, strategic, and high-level communications and public relations support to the many teams and programs of the Swearer Center.

Prior to joining the center, Kate spent a decade managing communications, development, and special events for nonprofit organizations. She has designed and implemented statewide public awareness campaigns, worked with local and national media outlets, developed messaging to influence public policy, and provided communications trainings on a national level. Kate's greatest inspiration comes from the survivors of violence with whom she has worked, who boldly face individual and generational healing head-on with grace, strength, anger, forgiveness, love, and humor.

Kate holds a B.A. in International Relations from Mount Holyoke College, and is a proud graduate of the 2018 Xi II Class of Leadership Rhode Island. She is actively involved in her community, coaching girls’ competitive soccer, advocating for issues that impact youth, and dedicating her time to various community organizations. Kate enjoys playing soccer, painting, hiking, and spending time with her two favorite people, Jackson and Avery.
