Kerrissa Heffernan is Director of the Global Sport Leadership Initiative and the Fellowship for Sport and Society. The Global Sport Initiative is committed to strengthening the capacity of local, national and global communities to deliver sport opportunities for youth and to exploring the ways sport can enhance the teaching and learning experience for Brown students.

Prior to that, Kerri was the Director of Faculty Engagement, Royce Fellowship, the Brown International Scholars Program and held an appointment in the School of Education. She was the coach of the Brown Women’s Rugby Team from 2001-2014. Before joining the Swearer Center, she was a senior associate at National Campus Compact. Prior to that, Kerri was the Arnow-Weiler professor of liberal arts at Lasell College, director of the Women's Studies concentration and director of the Center for Public Service. She is the co-editor of "The Practice of Change: Concepts and Models for Service-Learning in Women's Studies," co-editor of "The Introduction to Service-Learning Toolkit: Readings and Resources for Faculty" and author of "The Fundamentals of Course Construction."
