Emily Zhu is a rising senior at Brown University with a double concentration in Public Health and Public Policy. She is especially interested in health policy surrounding access to healthcare and efforts to reduce health disparities. In the past, she has worked with the County of San Diego under Public Health Services, assisting with the response to an outbreak of Hepatitis A and the distribution of Naloxone to combat the opioid epidemic. In Providence, Emily is now the fundraising coordinator of the non-profit IFE-Mali, which works to re-enroll children in Karan Mali back into school by providing transportation, school supplies, and food. In addition, Emily is an advocate for Connect for Health, connecting families at Hasbro Children’s Hospital to local resources like food pantries and utility assistance agencies to address the social determinants of health. In her free time, she dances with Fusion Dance Company.
