Blake DeVaney is a junior at Brown University concentrating in Geology-Mathematics and Physics. She is interested in environmental justice, equal access to STEM education, environmental ethics, and responsible energy usage. This past summer, Blake worked with the Maryland Out of School Time network, as a member of the Americorps Vista program. In that capacity, she evaluated summer programs for Baltimore’s underprivileged youth and provided recommendations for program improvements. During the school year, Blake volunteers with the New Scientist Collective as a mentor for freshmen pursuing STEM fields from underrepresented backgrounds. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Blake enjoys hiking, painting, and spending time with her family.
