Yang Guo grew up in Beijing, and moved to Vancouver when she was fourteen. Yang’s early travelling experiences gave her a deep appreciation and respect for different peoples and their ways of life. Yang continues to develop her interest in world cultures as a History concentrator, with a particular passion to give voices to under-privileged populations whose histories are often untold. In addition to her passion for history, Yang has also been actively involved in education and policy works. Her past summer working as a secondary school teacher showed her the immensely positive impact that caring and innovative educators can have on students. Yang is determined to adopt her open-minded and holistic approach to her historical studies to the classroom, and is determined to better the education system for all students. Through her internship with the Senate HELP Committee, Yang hopes to participate fully in making policies that positively impact students in a non-discriminatory way.
