Community Sport Fellowship

The Community Sport Fellowship is a dynamic summer fellowship opportunity for Brown University student-athletes focused on strengthening the capacity of local community organizations to deliver sport opportunities for Providence-area youth.

Program Goals:

  • Provide an experience that contributes to the academic experience of student-athletes
  • Enhance the capacity of community organizations to provide sport and health opportunities for youth and families.
  • Create a community of student-athletes engaged in local sport development work.
  • Strengthen partnerships between the Swearer Center, the Brown Athletic Department, academic departments and local community organizations.

  • Fellows will receive a $4,000 award and participate in community-based partnership activities and weekly seminars for a total of approximately 150 hours over the course of the fellowship.
  • Fellowships are for the summer only.
  • Fellows must have an endorsement from a Brown coach.
  • Fellows must apply through UFunds.

Current or prior Brown University student-athletes (varsity or club) who are in good standing with the University and have at least one year remaining at the University (first-, second-, third-year students and students in a five-year program) are eligible to apply.


All applicants must have a letter of recommendation from a coach and, if appropriate, a faculty member.
