Project Description: Ishani hopes to travel to Bangkok, Thailand in order to explore the roots of Dharmic religions and their respective meditative traditions and local histories. The religions represented in the local population and history (Theravada Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and more) have found ways to persist and coexist, exerting influence over each other for centuries. Ishani hopes to bring what she learns back to inform her concentration coursework in Contemplative Studies and to her work at Swearer as a Bonner Fellow with the Providence Student Union.
