Children at the Border: The Effects of U.S. Immigration Policies on Experiences of Migrant Children

Alexandra Ali Martínez ’22 studies International & Public Affairs and Latin American & Caribbean Studies. Alexandra Ali has focused her studies on the US-Mexico border, child and youth migration, and international law to serve her community. She looks forward to growing as an advocate and community-engaged scholar alongside the 2021 cohort of Royce Fellows.

Project:

As a Royce Fellow, Alexandra Ali will lead a children’s creative program at a migrant shelter at the U.S.-Mexico border. Her Royce project aims to provide a space for migrant children to create, reflect, learn, and grow through the program’s projects. In addition, Alexandra Ali will advance work on her senior honors thesis, which centers the voices of migrant children to critically reimagine U.S. immigration policies.
