The Material and Cultural Reconfiguration of Rural/Small-Town Life in Northern Michigan

Faculty Sponsor: Rebecca Carter

Claire explored how rural, small-town life in Northern Michigan is changing as a result of socio-economic shifts and contemporary processes of marginalization. She utilized ethnographic research methods to examine how second-home growth, economic shifts, and rising class divisions are spurring new social configurations and altering small-town culture.

Claire conducts ethnographic research for a strategy consulting firm, working mostly in New York and Copenhagen. She is currently the Senior Consultant at ReD Associates.
