Relationship of Resilience to Early-Life Stress and Psychiatric Outcome

Resilience refers to the ability to adapt successfully to adversity. While maltreated children are at risk for negative mental health outcomes, few studies examine factors that contribute to positive outcomes in this population. In this study, Daniel will examine resilience and its effect on the relationship between childhood adversity and psychiatric outcomes across a sample of 160 adults, with and without experiences of early-life stress and trauma. Daniel will also test the interaction between resilience measures and childhood stress in the development of adult psychiatric symptoms.
