Working with Professor Gerhard Friehs, Daniel will focus on quantifying the effects of an implantable brain device - the "deep brain stimulator" recently approved by the FDA. The stimulator instantly relieves the tremors suffered by people with Parkinson's disease. Stein hopes to measure improvement in tremors with customized computer programs.

Daniel received his MD/PhD from Columbia University Mt Sinai School of Medicine. He is a physician and clinical informatics specialist and is currently Associate Medical Director of Information Services in the Cornell Physician Organization Information Services Division, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at Weill Cornell Medical College.
