Breathe: Stress Reduction for Female Student-Athletes through Breathing Awareness Meditation

Breathing Awareness Meditation (BAM) is the practice of focusing on breathing and passively observing thoughts as they arise. While it has the potential to benefit all individuals, Emma will explore the impacts of BAM on a select group of female student athletes. In an effort to evaluate BAM as a stress-reducing and life balancing tool, Emma will monitor the effects the practice has on subjects’ salivary cortisol levels and self-reported stress.
