Franco
Capaldi

Concentration

Mechanical Engineering

Award Year

1997

Franco's project will examine the mechanisms involved in the fracture of layered ceramics, which have such promising applications as making engines lighter and more durable. The project, in collaboration with Professor Brian Sheldon, involves materials processing, mechanical testing and computer simulation.

Franco completed his Ph.D. at MIT and is now an Associate Professor of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at Merrimack College.
