MAXimizing Success in Public Transportation
Faculty Sponsor: Kurt Teichert
Katie explored the history of Portland, Oregon's MAX light rail system, and the specific events leading up to the first line's opening in 1986. In addition to weaving together the stories of the people, process, and institutions involved in moving this project from the realm of ideas to reality, Katie also examined how American scholars, citizens and public figures define success when it comes to public transportation projects such as this one.
