Investigating the Capacity of Organizations within the Field of Sport for Development and Peace

Katie worked in Cyprus as an instructor for the Doves Olympic Movement, a program that engages Greek and Turkish-Cypriot youth in sport, education, and cultural activities in an effort to promote inter-ethnic tolerance. Prior to traveling to Cyprus, Katie worked at Northeastern University’s Center for Sport in Society on research, education, outreach, and advocacy initiatives in the area of sport for development and peace.

Katie was the Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Manager for Grassroot Soccer (GRS) in Cape Town, South Africa. Katie oversaw research as well as data collection systems and processes surrounding the implementation of evidence-based, sport-based, HIV-prevention programs throughout Southern Africa and with partners worldwide. She is currently a Masters Student in Epidemiology at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Katie is also the co-founder and managing editor of, Journal of Sport for Development an open-access, peer-reviewed journal advancing research and best practice of SFD programmes and interventions.
