John Hope ACT: Agriculture, Community and Theater

Faculty Sponsor: Kathryn DeMaster

Focusing on the interface of localized food production and arts advocacy in Providence Rhode Island, Lillian examined the influence of a theater/performance-based program on a nutrition and community garden curriculum at the John Hope Settlement House. The results offered new perspectives on culturally responsive teaching, youth storytelling, and environmental health education.

Lillian lives in San Francisco and was the Senior Manager for Net Impact, a nonprofit empowering a new generation to create social and environmental change in the workplace and the world. She is currently a Design Researcher & Project Manager for Montaag and a Research & Strategy Consultant.
