Maria will review archival materials from Latin America to support Professor Douglas Cope's research on the informal economy of colonial Mexico City. For her honors thesis, she also will conduct her own investigation of early 20th-century Latin American intellectual history and the role of the intellectual in this period.

Maria received her PhD from Harvard University. She was an instructor and Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Romance Languages and Literature at Harvard from 2005-2011. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Wesleyan University in CT.
