Broken English, Triumphant Codes: Common Language Through Common Experience

Faculty Sponsor: Jose Itzigsohn

Merone studied the social and cultural values expressed by first-generation-born-in-Canada college age youth living in Vancouver, BC. This demographic, regardless of ethnic or geographic background, tends to form close bonds and Merone investigated how their commonality manifests itself through language and how they cope with switching from this private language and network to more mainstream, public language in a university setting.

Merone is currently the Business Development Associate at The Rumie Initiative in Toronto, Canada. Previously, Merone was the Executive Assistant at Buy Art Feed Kids in Sechelt, BC.
