A Gene in Action: Uncovering the Role of the p27 Gene in Fighting Disease

Faculty Sponsor: Steven Moss

Min Jung Park worked on two different mouse strains with hepatitis to examine the role of the p27 gene in response to hepatitis. Uncovering the mechanism of the gene's involvement in immune responses can ultimately help us better understand our immune system's response to injury.

After seven years at Brown for undergraduate, masters and medical school, Min completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and is currently working towards completing a hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at Stanford. The Royce Fellowship allowed him to develop as a researcher and clinician who can explain and engage many people from different backgrounds. The core values and skills learned during the fellowship allowed him to complete many exciting projects and publications.
