The Recurring Emergence of the Afro-Mexican: Black Culture in Mexican Media and Politics from 1990 to 2006

Carey researched the media portrayal of Afro-Mexicans, a group of 30,000-50,000 Mexican citizens concentrated on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Mexico. Carey examined Mexican representations of Afro-Mexicans and its impact on the inclusion or exclusion of Afro-Mexicans.

Carey lives in the Bahamas where he is the Assistant Director of Front Office Operations at the Reef Atlantis.
