Charlie will investigate the acculturation of European-American understandings of gender within the Diné community and culture through a critical analysis of late nineteenth- century and early twentieth-century archival materials; including photographs, research, oral histories, and interviews. Charlie will investigate the changing landscape of gender presentation and its impact on Diné knowledges and traditions.
