Rowan spent the summer in coastal Louisiana, where rapid land loss caused by rising sea levels, industrial degradation, and human engineering have brought the region to a state of crisis. Through interviews with tribal leaders, fishermen, scientists, and policymakers, Rowan gathered material for a linked series of nonfiction writing pieces that investigate the causes of land loss, its human and ecological toll, and the future of coastal restoration.
