Agnes Tran (she, her, hers) is a sophomore looking to concentrate in (most likely) Political Science. She has explored different venues of storytelling, with a particular focus on shared experiences of the Asian-American diaspora and oral histories from her family in Saigon, through Brown/RISD’s Visions Magazine, LA Times, and Vietcetera. She believes that storytelling provides a venue for histories to grow veins and heartbeats and ultimately bridge differences, particularly in intergenerational losses and different communities. In the coming year, she is interested in utilizing storytelling as a way to connect and empower the First Generation Low-Income (FLi) community at elite institutions. At Brown, she serves as Community Chair for Impulse Dance Company, an intern for the RI State House, and a member of SEASI. Additionally, she was part of the First Generation Low-Income Scholars Program in her first year and continues to remain involved in that community at Brown.
