Malika Ramani is a junior from the suburbs of Chicago concentrating in English Nonfiction while pursuing pre-medical studies. On campus, Malika is a Meiklejohn peer advisor, a tutor for PAL (Partnership for Adult Learning), a member of CHAP (Community Health Advocacy Program), a staff writer for The Triple Helix and Catalyst, and an EMT for Brown EMS. She is passionate about finding intersections between science and the humanities, and she hopes to reduce disparities in access to health care in the Providence community as well as on a larger scale. She believes that although statistics can display inequalities in medicine through numbers, it is individual patient stories about navigating the medical system that paint a more nuanced picture of treatment and coverage in America.
