Nicie Jenell Grier-Spratley is a senior pre-medical student concentrating in Health and Human Biology with a track in Health Systems, Structures, and Policy. Jenell’s long-term career goals are to obtain her Masters in Public Health and to become a Pediatrician. Her education at Brown has driven her to seek out tangible solutions to systemic problems discussed in her classes. Jenell Grier-Spratley is a member of Connect for Health, Brown Elementary After-School Mentoring Program (BEAM), Petey Greene (a tutoring program for people who are incarcerated) and Brown EMS. Through her engagement and classroom learning, Jenell has heard many stories of injustice that she believes need to be told. Her hope is that by telling stories, the systematic structures that perpetuate inequality can be revealed; once we have a holistic understanding, we can then work towards eliminating barriers to equality.
