Welcome to Juan Carlos Carranza ‘12 UEP ‘15

The Swearer Center for Public Service is pleased to announce that Juan Carlos Carranza ‘12 UEP ‘15 will join our staff as a Program Manager.

Juan Carlos has many years of experience working in Rhode Island’s public school system, specifically on issues of college access. He served as a College Adviser with the College Advising Corps at Central High School for two years, where he provided over 1,100 students with on-site advising and guidance on the college application and financial aid process. Juan Carlos has also worked as a program and data consultant with College Visions, which advances equal access to college opportunities in historically under-served communities in Rhode Island, and as a consultant for the Rhode Island Department of Education where his research helped inform the development of RI’s recent strategic plan for education.  Most recently, Juan worked as a Manager of Development with Teach for America Rhode Island. Originally from San Diego, Juan Carlos received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Brown and his graduate degree from Brown’s Urban Education Policy program. He currently serves as Vice President of Finance with the Brown University Latino Alumni Council.  

In his role as Program Manager at the Swearer Center, Juan Carlos will provide focused support to develop and implement high quality student programs and greater student leadership within Swearer. He begins officially in his role on December 15, 2015.
