Brown University recently became affiliated with The Undergraduate Awards (UA); the largest academic awards program in the world. Juniors, Seniors and recent graduates of Brown University are eligible to submit their best coursework (including independent study papers or research papers) to UA in order to be considered for recognition as the top student in their field or concentration. Selected awardees will also be invited to the UA Global Summit in Dublin, Ireland in November.
The Undergraduate Awards is the only pan-discipline academic awards program in the world, identifying leading creative thinkers through their undergraduate coursework. There were over 5,500 submissions for the awards this year, and Brown ranked #2 in submissions for the U.S. and Canada and #21 for total global submissions (in our first year!). We congratulate seven Brown students who stood out and are being recognized as Highly Commended in their respective fields.
The Highly Commended entrants are:
• Alexander Blum '16 Earth & Environmental Sciences
• Roy Chen '16 History
• Brittany Comunale '16 Psychology
• Denise Croote '16 Life Sciences
• Gabrielle Hick '16 Art History, Music, Film & Theatre
• Katherine Kardomateas '17 Politics & International Relations
• Madeline Rotman '16 Social Science: Anthropology & Cultural Studies
This process is highly competitive, and we are so proud that seven members of the Brown community have been recognized. We wish the entrants the best of luck as UA selects regional and overall winners for the 2016 UA Summit!
