Incorporating active learning techniques and activities in the classroom has been shown to increase student engagement with course material, promote deep learning, and improve student learning outcomes. Active and engaged learning instruction includes a wide variety of techniques, including in-class interactive activities, discussion, peer review, discovery and problem-based learning projects, and collaborative problem-solving sessions. Engaged learning is also at the core of flipped classroom pedagogy.
