Biography

Connie Scozzaro was born in London. She received a B.A. from The University of Cambridge, an M.A. from The University of Sussex, and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins. She joined Brown in 2020 as an Assistant Professor of English.

Scozzaro is a specialist in Renaissance literature and culture, with a focus on law and the history of sexuality. She has also published work on contemporary British poetry, as well as on aspects of sexuality in modern visual culture. Scozzaro is currently preparing her first book project, Cruel Intentions: Rape and Deliberation in the Time of Shakespeare.

Scozzaro is also a poet. Her first full-length book, Marnie, came out in 2019 from Krupskaya Press and is currently being translated into French; and she has published shorter works in journals and magazines such as The Chicago Review, Tripwire, and The Claudius App.
